Day 1: Mombasa – Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)

Depart early morning from Mombasa and travel via the Taveta border to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha National Park, complete the park formalities and begin your trek from Momella Gate with an armed ranger. The trail passes through forest areas where you may encounter game and a variety of bird species.
Hiking time: 5–6 hours
Dinner and overnight: Miriakamba Hut

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570m)

After breakfast, continue climbing through a mix of forest and open moorland. The path is steeper but offers wide views of the crater and the Ash Cone. You’ll reach Saddle Hut by mid-afternoon and have time to rest or take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m).
Hiking time: 3–4 hours
Dinner and overnight: Saddle Hut

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit (4,566m) – Miriakamba Hut

Begin your summit attempt shortly after midnight. The route follows a narrow ridge via Rhino Point and Cobra Point, leading to the summit of Mount Meru at sunrise. After a short break, descend to Saddle Hut for brunch, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut for the night.

Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Return to Mombasa

After breakfast, descend through the forest to Momella Gate, where you’ll meet your driver for the return trip to Mombasa. Arrival is expected in the evening.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch
